What is the Deposit?

A non-refundable deposit is $75.00 is required with registration.  This is deducted from the camper fee.  The balance is due on the first day of your camp week.

 What is your counselor to camper ratio?

We have one Sr. Counselor and one CIT (Counselor in Training) assigned to every 10 campers.

  How do you pick your counselors?

We recruit students from Christian colleges from around the Midwest. We also have a number of previous campers that apply to work here at TLC after their first year of college. They go through an intensive screening process, personal interview, background and reference checks. We typically have three times more counselors apply than we have positions available, so we are able to be extremely selective in our hiring process.

  What if my child gets hurt?

We have volunteer RN’s who spend the week at camp to oversee medical needs. If your child gets hurt during the week and needs more care than she can provide, they will be sent to the local hospital. You will be notified as soon as possible (usually before they leave).

  What is chapel like?

Chapel is age-appropriate in both content and length. Worship is led by a band made up of our counselors and one of our camp directors.

  What are your church affiliations? 

We are an evangelical Baptist camp that is conservative in theology. Campers from a variety of church affiliations attend our camp and are welcomed.

  What about mail?

Mail is delivered during lunch each day. Campers who receive packages or 6 letters in one day are thrown into the lake on Friday. This has become a fun camp tradition.

  •  Two pairs of shoes (at least one pair athletic shoes/one that can be worn on the creek walk -they need to be closed toe shoes)
  •  Swimsuit (one piece or a tankini if it covers the stomach area for girls) & cover up to wear while walking to beach

  •  Towel (beach & bath)

  •  Spending money for the camp store
  •  All Medicine & Prescription drugs-have ready to turn into camp nurse at registration.

What NOT to bring:

  •  Cell phone
  •  I-pod, music players, radio, TV or electronic games
  •  Fireworks, firearms, knives or other weapons
  •  Magazines, excessive jewelry or coolers
  •  Tobacco products, non-prescription drugs or alcoholic beverages are not allowed on camp property.

Dress Code

The following guidelines are given as a form of standardization for TLC. We realize that families and churches have their own convictions regarding dress. The Bible is clear about the need for modesty and not causing others to lust. 

General Guidelines

Modesty. Christian men and women are asked to dress in a manner that personifies the principle that we are temples of God.  Our dress should show sensitivity to the spiritual well being of those who see us; it should also reflect a desire to glorify God in a manner that is not vain, boastful, bold, or forward. Identification with the Lord and not the world. 

Girls Dress

General:  The following types of clothing is not to be worn:  midriff shirts, tank tops, halter tops or tank tubes, shorts shorter than finger tips in length or sheer garments.  Logos or printing on t-shirts must not be offensive.

Swimming:  Swimsuits are to be one piece or a tankini as long as the stomach area is covered and adequately covers the feminine parts of the body.  Swimsuits are to be worn only in the designated swim areas or in route. 

Chapel:  There is no special dress code for chapel, other than the camper must be “neat and clean.”  This applies to the body and hair as well as the clothes. 

Boys’ Dress

General:  The following types of clothing are not to be worn:  midriff shirts, tank tops or sheer garments.  Hats are not to be worn in the dining hall.  Logos or printing on t-shirts must not be offensive. 

Swimming:  Swimsuits are to be boxer type shorts.  Swimsuits are to be worn only in the designated swim areas or in route.

Chapel:  there is no special dress code for chapel, other than the camper must be “neat and clean.”  This applies to the body and hair as well as the clothes.
