Ladies' Retreat

Date:  April 28-29

Everyone experiences trials and struggles.  It’s just a part of life. The Bowers believe everyone has a story.  Their family’s story does involve tragedy; they don’t want to deny that.  But they don’t think tragedy has to be the main theme of anyone’s story.  Instead, they believe it’s possible to find victory, hope and joy after life hands you a bunch of lemons.

Through the years, Carly has struggled with anxiety, depression, flashbacks, frustration, fear, and questioning God.  The list goes on…  She realized that life would never be the same after her husband’s accident.  The healing process has been an ongoing battle, but through it all they have grown closer to God and to each other.  Even in their darkest moments, they have been blessed with reminders that God has a plan, a purpose and a hope for their pain.

Carly will be sharing a message on Choosing Joy at this year’s women’s retreat at Twin Lakes Camp.

Together, let’s explore what true joy really is, what might steal our joy, and what we can do to reclaim the joy in our daily lives.  It’s possible to keep our joy during life’s darkest moments.

SPEAKER:  Carly Bowers - Bowers Ministry

Carly Bowers is the wife of a burn survivor and founder of Bowers Ministry.  Her husband, David, was severely burned in an oxygen flash fire in 1999 and was not expected to survive his injuries.  Together, they have recently co-authored a book titled, “Walk Through Fire: One Couple’s Journey of Finding Joy in the Midst of Tragedy.”   This unexpected tragedy turned their comfortable world upside down.  While their story does involve tragedy, that is not the theme of David and Carly’s lives or their book. Through darkness and shadows and many unknowns they have found victory and hope.  Their story is a message of healing and of growing closer to God and to each other.  What emerges is a unique perspective on hope, faith in God and joy.  “Walk Through Fire” is a poignant reminder that you will find hope and joy, even when you can barely see where the next step in life will lead.
